Spivey Karate recently completed its annual Sumer Spar Wars Training Tournament

This event was unique in that it did not have forms or weapons divisions, only sparring. Everyone took part in 3 sparring categories, which were Standard (first to score 3 points wins), Handicap Mixed Belts (lower ranking belts must score 2 points while a higher belt has to score more), & Continuous Contact (30 seconds of non-stop sparring with the judges deciding the winner at the end of the match).

Everyone participated with the goal of simply doing their best, not necessarily winning, in a safe & controlled atmosphere. All the participants were there to “Learn & Improve,” not to prove the superiority of a style, school, or individual.
